The Hooters and The A's can be added to a long list of artists who call Philadelphia home. They both burst onto the Philly music scene in the 80s building their success all across the East Coast. The Hooters went on to achieve worldwide success and remain a driving force in the music world here, at home, and internationally.

The Hooters, who just released Time Stand Still (their first album of new material in over a decade) in Europe ONLY, have been gaining fan and critic support since the start of their career more than 25 years ago. Perhaps it's The Hooters' live shows, their sought-after songwriting abilities or their musical presence in Generation X and beyond that keep us wanting more.

Their Sound: Based on American folk-rock, but with infusions of ska, reggae and rock ‘n’ roll.
Their Hits: "And We Danced," "Day By Day," "All You Zombies"
Their Collaborations: Mick Jagger, Willie Nelson, Jon Bon Jovi, The Band, Cyndi Lauper (co-writing “Time After Time”), Joan Osborne (writing/playing "One Of Us")

In an interview, Rob Hyman (vocals and keys) said, "Though time and miles have separated us over the years, whenever we all get in the same room, pick up our instruments, and start to jam, something magical instantly happens - we 'become' the Hooters, and I suppose that IS our way of making time stand still.”

The Hooters: Eric Bazilian, Rob Hyman, David Uosikkinen, John Lilley, Fran Smith Jr.

The A's are returning to the stage for their first performance in 20 years! With all their original members, The A's will be celebrating their 30th anniversary since their early days on the East Coast club scene. The A's built a reputation with their strong, power-pop sound mixed with an energetic stage show. When their self-titled debut album came out in 1979, it was praised by Rolling Stone Magazine.

The A's: Richard Bush, Rocco Notte, Rick DiFonzo, Terry Bortman, Mikey Snyder

M.I.A.
with The Cool Kids
Saturday, Dec. 1 @ 8:30pm
On Sale: 10/5 @ 10am

M.I.A. has been making the transition from underground sensation to mainstream darling since her 2003 debut Arular. Through internet file-sharing, word-of-mouth and DJ sampling, the Sri Lankan-British artist became a household name to international music listeners even before she graced a stage. But once fans saw M.I.A. perform, her live show reinforced their love of her unique sounds that create a genre orgy.
It's songs like "Galang" that are heightening the senses of audiences with a 'bold, righteous amalgamation of hip-hop, electro, dancehall, grime, and baile funk.' [All Music]

Her message is of great appeal as well. Just like in Arular, M.I.A. has received critical acclaim for her new album Kala, which came out this summer.
